The problem:
Online power tool supplier Tool-Net had a strong, 'catalogue' database-driven e-commerce website, offering a huge range of products. A front and backend site redesign was expected to bring a spike in sales but failed to do so. Before approaching Upstream, visitor numbers had remained static for three years, while competitors were growing at a pace.
The solution:
Upstream Connections helped tweak the design of the site to make it more searchable. After consultation with Tool-Net and intensive research, a keyword list was agreed including general search terms relevant to the industry and specific, high conversion search terms perfect for our client. A highly-focused link popularity campaign was agreed, along with a regular newsletter managed from the Upstream office.

Within 3 months of hiring Upstream, website visitors doubled, online sales tripled and we were asked to triple the amount of work we do for this site. In the years since, Tool-Net has consistently ranked top three in Google for an ever-expanding range of searches, including core searches “power tools” and “hand tools”.
